Ideas are usually born in the recognition of a shortcoming. This recognition allows the development of imagination, which is the food of the dream that leads to innovation, meaning the creation of a new point of view, a new product, or a new service to meet this shortcoming. And somehow, in that way, the roots for the creation of “PROTEUS SOCIAL INNOVATION & DEVELOPMENT” were laid.
As an operator of our actions we chose the legal form of the “Collective and Productive Social Cooperative Enterprise” in accordance with the provisions of Law 4019/2011 of the Hellenic Republic and we gave him the distinctive title “PROTEUS SOCIAL INNOVATION AND DEVELOPMENT”. The company is private law legal entity, with limited liability of its members, and has commercial capacity.
The name “Proteus” is an ancient word meaning “first”, “firstborn”, and “primordial”. The sailors often called Proteus the “Old Man of the Sea” and considered him their protector in their voyages. As Homer tells us, he was submissive to Poseidon and knew all the depth of the sea and their secrets. He was also gifted with clairvoyant abilities and he could transform into anything he wanted whether that would be an animal, a plant, a bird, and even fire or water.
